Being frē is the next generation of prestigious schools.Freedom; the ability to choose, is the foundation of Self Directed Education. The Genius School @ Heartwood ALC invites young people to create their dream school by asking them a transformative question:
We began asking kids and parents, “Who do you never get to be in school?”
Next, we asked, “If you could BE _____, what could you DO in school?”
To create their first week of school, Learners created Collab Studios based on what they could DO TOGETHER in their DREAM GENIUS SCHOOL. Facilitators presented office hours with traditional school subjects. Learners can choose to rsvp time.
Afterwards, parents and kids shared what kind of school they could HAVE AND WHAT’S IN THE WAY.
